The Road to Hell is paved with bleached bones of Marines that did not plan ahead!

Kilo 3/9

I was stationed with 3rd Platoon, Machine Gun Squad, Kilo Company 3/9. My platoon commander was 1Lt John Braxton Woodall (KIA Hill 881) and my machine gun team leader was LCpl James Priebe (KIA Hill 881).

1Lt Woodall was a young guy with a pleasant, almost childish manner. He was liked and respected by everyone because he seemed like just one of the guys. I recall him getting a package of Koolaid in mail from his mother - he opened the mail with a large smile and shouted out "Gee Mom - my favorite - Choo-Choo Cherry". Everyone about split a gut. That is just the kind of guy 1Lt Woodall was.

LCpl James Priebe my machine gun team leader was a marines marine, a strong individual that loved the Corp. Jim got on "my case" on more than one occasion and I am certain I deserved it.
